Always have the best most manly tools on hand. Educate yourself with how to use the tools properly. Know how to look cool holding them too. Sort of like this . . .

Never Like This . . . 

Don’t Whine or Complain

Real do-it-yourselfers don’t drag down the project with complaints. They do it for the love of home improvement. They know equity is the real reward of hard work home improvement projects. This alone gives them motivation to improve their house.

Nothing Is Icky

If you are replacing the faucet on a sink and a bunch of black goo gets all over your hand or even drips onto your forehead, wipe it off on your jeans and start back working like a real man. Did A ton of sewer water just explode all over the floor because the toilet backed up?  Chuck Norris wouldn’t let this kind of stuff phase him and neither should you. Clean it up and move on. 

Wear The Right Clothes

Even if you don’t know what you’re doing, look like you do. Wear work pants that are already dirty. And it never hurts to wear a plaid shirt for some emphasis. It seems anybody who knows anything about home improvement projects sticks to plaid. Clothing will give you the confidence to complete your home improvement project. Just Get It Done

Don’t let slackers who offer to help drag down the project. If the project is not going to your standards or taking too long–take it over. Use force to get the job done if you have to. Chuck Norris doesn’t accept slackers and neither should you.

Finally

If you must have new things put up by somebody else, always supervise the project so you know it’s going well, and always shop around for the best price.
