Hassles Of “Doing It Yourself”
Have you ever tried to tackle a huge renovation project on your home to save some money? On the same coin, have you ever found yourself in way too deep, causing more stress and headache? Of course there are some projects out there that aren’t worth paying somebody to come do, and that you can pretty easily do on your own. Let me be the first to tell you, window replacement is not one of those projects.
Let’s say you decided to replace your windows on your home. The first step would be to choose which replacement windows you are going to purchase. How do you know if they are good quality for the price? How do you know if the ones you picked will fill the needs you are looking for? How do you even know if they will fit? All of this can be figured out, but with a TON of research. Research that not many people I know of have time to do.
So you did all of your research and are sure you have the correct windows. It is now time to start removing the ones on your home already. There is another series of issues you could run into here as well. What if you find some dry rot around your window? Termite damage? Bent frames that won’t allow the window to come out? When removing existing windows from a home, there are too many potential problems to account for even for the professionals. An untrained eye might miss something significant.
Now let’s assume you’ve made it this far with no issues, and you’re on your merry way installing the brand new replacement windows you bought. Next thing you know, a city inspector (or someone in charge of your HOA) notices the project and shows up at your front door. Did you get all of the necessary permits filed with the city and your HOA? Because if not, you are looking at a huge fine, putting the renovation on pause or being told to undo all of the hard work you have already done.
Finally, after months of stressful and hard work your windows are all installed and things are starting to get back to normal around your house. Then you realize a few of the new windows won’t open because they weren’t installed correctly or they weren’t the right size. Are you willing to pull them out, fix them, and then reinstall them? I know that I wouldn’t be.
As you can see, trying to go at a monumental task like this without professional help is more trouble than it’s worth. It is doable, but how much headache and hard work are you really willing to put up with to save some money?
Here at Conservation Construction of Texas, our purpose is to make sure you don’t run into any of these problems and you get exactly what you want for your home with zero issues. From picking out the best quality windows to fit your budget, to contacting your city/HOA for all appropriate permits, to expert installation and follow-up with the rare problems that do come up, we do it all. The better nights sleep you get along with the comfort of knowing your replacement windows were installed right (and are everything you want), is totally worth the below market average price we charge.
